BAYHAWKS ANNOUNCE INDIVIDUAL LESSON PROGRAM


Players to Provide One-On-One Sessions to Youth and High School Players

 

ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Chesapeake Bayhawks announced today that they will be offering personalized lessons given by the professional athletes to young, aspiring lacrosse players. Bayhawk stars Will Dalton, Kyle Dixon, Michael Evans, Danny Glading, Brian Phipps, and Ben Rubeor will all be taking part in the new program. All of the players bring excellent experience and training to the program and can offer unparalleled instruction to the youth lacrosse players in the area.

Will Dalton – Midfield/Face-Off Specialist

Will reigns from the University of Maryland where he dominated the face-off for four years, routinely matching up against the best in the country.  As a result, he was named to the 2005 All-ACC and captain in 2008. Dalton was acquired by the Bayhawks in 2011 from the Denver Outlaws where he played 8 games, recorded 1 goal, 15 ground balls and also went 78-195 at the X. 

Kyle Dixon – Midfield

Dixon was drafted 2nd overall by the Bayhawks in the 2006 MLL Collegiate Draft from the University of Virginia.  During his career with the Cavaliers, Dixon scored 55 goals, added 57 assists, totaling 112 career points. He also logged 109 ground balls.  Kyle won 2 National Championships at Virginia, won the McLaughlin Award as the nation’s best midfielder, and was selected to the 2nd Team All-American junior year and 1st Team All-American senior year. Since becoming a Bayhawk, Dixon has been named to the MLL All-Star team 5 consecutive times beginning in 2007. He also leads the franchise in 2-point goals with 32, which is just one shy of the MLL record held by Roy Colsey.

Michael Evans – Defense

Evans was a member of the National Championship Johns Hopkins team in 2007.  He accumulated 38 ground balls, 9 caused turnovers, and 2 assists during his career at Hopkins. Evans also received numerous accolades with the Blue Jays, including  2007 Honorable Mention USILA All-American, 2008 3rd Team USILA All-American, and 2009 1st Team USILA All-American, as well selection to the 2008 NCAA all tournament team. Evans was drafted 18th overall by the Bayhawks in 2009 and has remained a shutdown defenseman.  In his 3 year career with the Bayhawks, Evans has tallied 12 ground balls.

Danny Glading – Attack

Glading was drafted to the Bayhawks with the 5th overall pick in the 2009 collegiate draft from the University of Virginia, where he won an NCAA championship in 2006.  Glading was listed as the nation's top freshman by Inside Lacrosse, won ACC Rookie of the Year, was on the Inside Lacrosse All-Freshman team, and was the only freshman in the country to score 20 goals and 20 assists.  He was also named USILA 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Team All-American.  He was Lacrosse Magazine's Preseason Player of the Year, and was selected to the ACC All-Academic Team. Glading has been a defense’s worst nightmare, racking up 79 points with 42 goals and 37 assists in his MLL career. Twice named to the MLL All-Star game, Glading took 5th place in the MLL for goals (23) and assists (15) for the 2012 season.

Brian Phipps – Goalie

Phipps, a Lowe’s Senior Class Award finalist from the University of Maryland, tallied 446 total saves in his career at Maryland. Phipps started in 44 out of 56 games with the Terps and recorded 446 saves with a save percentage of .583, a goals against average of 7.56, and an overall record of 31-11. In his rookie year with the Bayhawks, Phipps was named to the MLL All-Star team and boosted a save percentage of .532 in 10 games. He was also named MLL Defensive Player of the Week in Week 7 against the Rochester Rattlers, stopping 21 saves in just 60 minutes.

Ben Rubeor – Attack

A four year starter at the University of Virginia, Rubeor was one of the nation’s top players, rated No. 3 by Inside Lacrosse.  He was a finalist for the 2007 Tewaarton Trophy, two-time team captain, and finished as the 6th all-time leading scorer in UVA history with 212 points.  He was twice named to the All-ACC Academic Team and once to the USILA 1st Team All-American. Rubeor was acquired by the Bayhawks in the 2009 MLL Player Reallocation and has since recorded 60 points with 38 goals and 22 assists.
