Costabile was originally drafted by the Bayhawks 5th overall in the 2012 Collegiate Draft. He was traded to the New York Lizards before returning to the Bayhawks in 2014. In 2015, Costabile played in a career-high 14 games.

Costabile played three professional seasons with the Lizards. He was acquired by the Lizards from the Bayhawks through the trade that sent defenseman Nicky Polanco to Chesapeake.
Costabile attended Duke University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He finished his career as Duke's all-time leader in ground balls, with 376. He was a four time USILA All-American selection, a two time All-ACC choice, and the 2012 ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Year. He was also a 2012 ACC Scholar Athelete of the Year, a 2012 Tewaaraton Trophy finalist, won the 2012 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, and won the Donald MacLaughlin Dr. Award as the nation's top midfielder.
Costabile attended New Fairfield High School, where he was a four-year letter winner.
Costabile was born December 1, 1989 to Steve and Doreen Costabile. He has one brother.
